Norma Treptow, 1936-2014

Norma Jane Treptow, 78, of Wells died Friday, July 25, 2014, at her home surrounded by family. A memorial service will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the facilities of Wells United Methodist Church. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. today at Bruss-Heitner Funeral home in Wells and one hour prior to the church on Tuesday. The Rev. Matt Hundley of Albert Lea Vineyard Church will officiate and interment will be in Rice Lake Cemetery in Foster Township, Faribault County. Norma was born Jan. 8, 1936, at home in Walters, the daughter of Harold and Ruby (Courrier) Matz. Norma married Clifford Treptow on Nov. 4, 1954. Norma was a graduate of Kiester High School and a graduate of the Mankato Catholic School of Nursing. Norma and Cliff farmed near Walters for 38 years. Norma worked at Parkview and Mapleton nursing homes, was the owner of the Friendship Home and she managed Shepard’s Inn in Wells.
Norma served on the PTA for Kiester School, was president of the FHA, was a church youth leader, leader at church women’s groups along with Cub Scouts and Girl Scouts. She enjoyed crafts, writing, traveling, camping and family time. Norma was a published author and worked part time at the Minnesota Lake Tribune. She also volunteered at the Clothes Closet.
Norma is survived by her husband of 59 years, Clifford Treptow, of Wells; sons Jeffery (Terra) Treptow of Fort Wayne, Ind., and Joel (Tanya) Treptow of Wells; daughters Sandra (Randy) Buendorf of Hillsboro, Mo., Nora (Brian) Thompson of Clarks Grove and Patricia (William) Schuster of New South Wales, Australia; sister, Eleanor (Don) Frederick; 15 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; son, David Treptow; grandson, Matthew Schuster; and great-granddaughter, Josie Marie Buendorf.
