Robin VonHagen, 1963-2014

Robin Ann (Behrends) VonHagen, 51, passed away Saturday, July 12, 2014, at Hospice of North Iowa after fighting bladder cancer for the past few years. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Albert Lea with the Rev. James Kassera officiating. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery in Albert Lea. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Schroeder & Sites Funeral Home in Northwood.
Robin was born in Freeborn County on Jan. 4, 1963, to Russell H. and Marsha (Christofferson) Behrends.
Robin grew up mainly in Albert Lea. Her three children, Joshua, Nathan and Stacy, were born from a previous marriage. She worked as a CNA at Good Samaritan Society of Albert Lea and then Thorne Crest Retirement Community in Albert Lea for many years. Robin remarried in 1994 to Dean VonHagen and shared 20 years together.
Her interests included camping, racing, casinos, bingo, shopping, a love of animals — especially dogs — and most importantly, spending time with her many family members and friends, including special friend, Jane Perhus, exchanging stories and laughter.
Robin is survived by her loving husband, Dean VonHagen; son, Nathan; daughter, Stacy; daughter-in-law, Carolyn Flatness, all of Northwood; six grandchildren, Alivia and Alexia Baldwin, Adyson, Ethan and Christian Flatness and Gage Camerer; brothers Russell Jr. (Cheryl) Behrends, Ricky (Sarah) Behrends and Randy (Kim) Behrends; sister, Rosemary Behrends; brother-in-law, Rudy Adams; and many very special nieces and nephews and in-laws.
She is preceded in death by her parents; sister, Becky Adams; son, Joshua Baldwin; and mother-in-law, Gloria VonHagen.
