The Albert Lea Beyond the Yellow Ribbon group wants to thank the community for coming to our Freedom Festival event that was held July 3.

It was very special to us to be a part of the community’s July 3 celebrations. We had many people come visit the Freedom Festival down at the Fountain Lake gazebo before and after the Third of July parade.

This year was the third annual Freedom Festival, which each year has been a free community event for people to meet and chat with local veterans and thank them for their service.

We hope people enjoyed seeing the special memorial dedicated to Minnesota military service members who have died since Sept. 11. Albert Lea was lucky to host that statewide memorial.

So thanks again everyone who came out to say hi, enjoy some free donated food and great music during the city’s Independence Day celebrations.
