First Team

Jade Schultz,
NRHEG, Sr., P

A year after missing the season with an knee injury, Schultz pitched every game for the Panthers and posted an area-best 1.45 earned-run average. She pitched 22 more innings than other pitcher in the area with 159. Schultz was also stellar at the plate with 35 hits (second in the area) and a batting average of .427.

Hannah Lundberg,
NRHEG, Sr., C

Along with posting the Panthers’ top on-base percentage (.583), Lundberg had more than twice as many stolen bases as anyone in the area. She was successful in 20 of 22 attempts. Lundberg had NRHEG’s top batting average at .438, and she had 28 hits with six doubles, eight RBIs and 15 walks.

Lynzee Underdahl,
Albert Lea, Sr., OF

With 17 games against pitching from the Big Nine Conference, Underdahl led the Tigers with a batting average of .373. She was one of five Albert Lea seniors to lead to team to four postseason games, including two wins. Underdahl scored a team-high 20 runs and posted a team-high 17 RBIs with seven doubles. Her on-base percentage was .413.

Brooke Reyerson,
Alden-Conger, Sr., 1B

Reyerson was one of two players in the area to have a batting average over .500. Her mark of .510 was second in the area. She led the Knights to a 9-4 overall record and had 25 hits, including four doubles and a triple. Reyerson took seven walks and struck out only four times.

Haley Harms,
Albert Lea, Jr., P

Harms led the Tigers from the pitching circle with 63 strikeouts and 39 walks in 137 innings. Her earned-run average was third in the area (4.70). Harms also found success at the plate with a batting average of .369. She had 31 hits — which led Albert Lea and was third in the area — including three doubles. Harms scored 14 runs and had one stolen base.

Cassie Gilster,
Alden-Conger, Jr., 3B

The best batting average in the area belonged to Gilster at .549. She tied Albert Lea’s Underdahl, and NRHEG’s Lundberg for sixth place in the area with 28 hits, and Gilster added four doubles, five triples and one home run. She took a base on balls six times.

Anna Stork,
NRHEG, Jr., 1B

Stork led the Panthers with 86 at-bats and came through with team’s second-best on-base percentage of .538. She posted an area-high 37 hits, including three doubles and a triple. Stork’s batting average of .430 was fourth in the area. She scored 24 runs, drove in 20 runs and was walked six times. Stork’s eight stolen bases tied her with Albert Lea’s Taylor Thompson for second in the area.

Taylor Thompson,
Albert Lea, Jr., OF

Along with leading the Tigers in left field, Thompson had an on-base percentage of .373 and a batting average of.358. On the base paths, she tied NRHEG’s Stork with eight stolen bases. Thompson had 29 hits, which was fifth in the area, including five doubles. She scored 11 runs, drove in nine and was walked twice. Thompson was Big Nine All-Conference honorable mention.

Megan Kortan,
Albert Lea, Jr., SS

Kortan led Albert Lea’s infield with solid play at shortstop. She was a Big Nine All-Conference honorable mention selection and had an on-base percentage of .366. Her batting average was .337, and she was fourth in the area with 30 hits, including seven doubles and one home run. Kortan drove in eight runs and was walked four times.

 

Second Team

Madi Ziebell,
Glenville-Emmons, Jr., P

For the second consecutive year, Ziebell led the Wolverines from the pitching circle and was an All-Southeast Conference selection. Her record was 1-7, but she struck out 65 batters and only walked 25 with an earned run average of 3.58. She also led Glenville-Emmons from the plate with 12 hits, including six doubles and a triple. Her batting average was .375, and she had a slugging percentage of .625.

Caycee Gilbertson,
Albert Lea, Sr., 3B

Gilbertson tied NRHEG’s Kayley Camerer with two home runs to lead the area. She had a batting average of .321 and an on-base percentage of .377. In 56 at-bats, Gilbertson had 18 hits, including two doubles. She scored eight runs, was walked five times and had eight RBIs and two stolen bases.

Kassi Hardies,
Albert Lea, Jr., 1B

Hardies began the season with a bang as she led the Tigers to a 7-2 win over Owatonna with a grand slam. She had a batting average of .319 and an on-base percentage of .372. In 72 at-bats, Hardies had 23 hits, including four doubles. She added two stolen bases and was walked five times.

Karina Skov,
Alden-Conger, Sr., SS

Skov was one of four Knights to have a batting average in the area top 10. She posted a mark of .407. Skov had 22 hits, including three doubles, two triples and a home run. She drove in 20 runs and had an even more impressive batting average of .467 in Valley Conference play with 14 hits.

Alexa Wood,
Albert Lea, Jr., OF

Wood stepped up at the plate for the Tigers with 13 hits in 36 at-bats for an average of .361, which was third on the team. She scored eight runs and had two doubles. Wood was walked twice.

Grace Johns,
NRHEG, Fr., IF

In 71 at-bats, Johns posted a batting average of .310 with 22 hits, including two doubles. She had an on-base percentage of .439 and a slugging percentage of .338. Johns drove in 12 runs and was walked 10 times.

Jessica Price,
Alden-Conger, Jr., P

Price filled in for the Tribune’s 2013 All-Area co-Player of the Year Allison Songstad in the pitching circle. In 84 innings pitched, she struck out  67 batters and walked 67 with an earned-run average of .485. At the plate, she posted a batting average of .386.

Bre Lundmark,
Glenville-Emmons, Sr., P

Lundmark led the Wolverines with a batting average of .429. Her 12 hits, including five doubles, tied her for the team lead. Lundmark’s slugging percentage was .607, and her on-base percentage was .484. She scored two runs and drove in six.

Veronica Silva,
Albert Lea, Jr., C

Silva was the Tigers’ only new defensive starter this season. She filled in for 2013 First Team All-Area selection Dominique Villarreal with a .339 on-base percentage and a .228 batting average. Silva posted 15 hits in 52 at-bats, including a double and a home run. She scored seven runs and drove in 13.
