DULUTH — Duluth fire authorities say a building fire caused $15,000 in damages after the owner was hospitalized for touching a power line near the roof.

The owner of Impact Golf was on the building’s roof Wednesday afternoon when he came into contact with an overhead power line. A building tenant said the owner was on the roof fixing wiring.

Assistant Fire Chief Erik Simonson said the man has been released from the hospital. He had burns to his hands and arms.

Simonson said firefighters found flames in the roof and a wall cavity when called to the building a couple of hours later. He estimates the fire caused $15,000 to $20,000 in damages. He says the fire was contained right away.

It’s unclear why the fire started.
