CLARKS GROVE — Almost 470 Xcel Energy customers were without power in Albert Lea, Clarks Grove, Ellendale and Hartland for almost six hours on Wednesday after a motor vehicle reportedly crashed into a power pole northeast of Clarks Grove.

Tom Hoen, Xcel Energy spokesman, said the outage began at about 9:30 a.m. Crews restored power at about 3 p.m.

Freeborn County Sheriff Bob Kindler said authorities received a report at 10:05 a.m. from an Xcel Energy worker that someone had knocked down a power pole and damaged a cornfield near the intersection of 750th Avenue and 300th Street.
