ST. PAUL — A Minnesota judge has sentenced an Edina man to 20 years of probation for stalking a woman he was convicted of raping, as well as former neighbors and a police officer.

The Ramsey County judge on Tuesday gave 49-year-old Thomas Evenstad a stayed prison sentence of eight years and four months. Conditions of avoiding that sentence include GPS monitoring and no alcohol use, unmonitored Internet use or contact with 17 individuals.

Evenstad pleaded guilty to stalking charges in five cases, including several people involved in his 1999 rape conviction. He created 400 unwanted websites in his victims’ names.

Six cases against him were dismissed in his plea deal. They could be brought again if he breaks the law or violates his probation.
