State Patrol identifies man killed in crash

The Minnesota State Patrol has released the identity of the person killed in a motorcycle crash Sunday night east of New Richland.
Kevin L. Bass, 50, of Ellendale, was reportedly driving a 2008 Harley-Davidson motorcycle eastbound on Minnesota Highway 30 when he left the roadway on the westbound side of the highway near the road’s intersection with Waseca County Road 63.
The crash took place shortly after 9 p.m. What led Bass to go off the road remains unclear.
He was not wearing a helmet, and it is unknown whether alcohol was a factor.
The crash was one of three fatal motorcycle crashes over the weekend that happened within 10 hours of each other.
Two motorcyclists died in crashes Monday.
State Department of Public Safety records show the 28 deaths so far this year are fewer than 41 at the same time last year.
It said a 58-year-old man from Paynesville was killed Monday after crashing into an SUV east of Milan in west-central Minnesota. The 24-year-old SUV driver wasn’t hurt.
The Anoka County Sheriff’s Office said a 37-year-old motorcyclist from Fridley died after hitting a traffic signal pole near a highway Monday.
