Shirley Diaz, 1937-2014

Mankato resident Shirley Arlene Diaz, 76, died Thursday, Aug. 7, 2014, at her home. Memorial services will be at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at Woodland Hills Funeral Home in Mankato with the Rev. Paul Lauer officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
Shirley was born Aug. 18, 1937, in Steele County to George and Etta (Nelson) Stieglbauer. She attended school in Geneva and graduated from Ellendale High School.
On Feb. 25, 1959, she married Jesse Diaz in Albert Lea. She worked at Stampers of Wells and also Easton Lumber Yard. Shirley enjoyed gardening, reading and spending time with her family. She also loved spending time with the LeDuc family, whom she loved dearly.
She is survived by sons Julian (Jenny) Diaz of Mankato and Tom (Stella) Diaz of Wasilla, Alaska; daughter, Laura (Neil) Behnke, of Minnesota Lake; grandchildren Jeremy, Jessica, Jade, Jasmine, Nikki, Jenny, David and Lani; great-grandchildren Jordis, Jaxon, Kiera, Cole, Ulysses and Drew; brothers Louis (Barb) Stieglbauer of Dale City, Va., George (Susan) Stieglbauer and Laverne (Linda) Stieglbauer, all of Geneva; sisters Loretta Anderson and Jeanette (Terry) Ringeon, all of Albert Lea, and Julia (Kenneth) Farr of Geneva; and brothers and sisters-in-law Manuel Cortinas, Barney Diaz, Frank and Kathy Diaz, Goody Diaz, Mary and Verlyn Thompson and Bruce and Carmen Stenhovden.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jesse; son, John; sisters Margaret, Delores and Donna; brothers-in-law Joe Diaz, Tony Diaz and Allen Anderson; and sister-in-law, Susan Diaz.
