St. Cloud man drowns in river

ST. CLOUD — Authorities say a 56-year-old man has drowned in the Sauk River in central Minnesota.

The Stearns County Sheriff’s Office said police received a call Sunday that a man was found in the river in St. Cloud. It said the man had been pulled onto the shore but was unresponsive and blue.

Authorities said he was pronounced dead at the scene. They say foul play isn’t suspected.

They said the man had been with friends in a nearby apartment complex before walking into the river and swimming in shallow water. His friends went looking for him after not seeing him for an unspecified amount of time.

Authorities aren’t releasing his name until family is notified.
