John T. Goodman, 1942-2014

John T. Goodman, 72, of Lafayette, Colo., passed away Sept. 1, 2014. John was born Aug. 18, 1942, in Albert Lea to Robert and Violet (Kilen) Goodman.
John graduated from Albert Lea High School in 1960. Following graduation, he joined the U.S. Navy from July 1960 through August 1963, serving at Guantanamo Bay during the Cuban Missile Crisis. John went on to receive his Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Technology from Stout State University in 1969.
John moved to Lafayette, Colo., in 2006 from Dallas, Texas. While in Colorado, he spent much of his time outdoors enjoying the beautiful weather and scenery. John enjoyed hunting, fishing, hiking and canoeing.
John was loved above all else because of his loyalty to his friends and family. He was always sure to listen and make others feel just as important. John was deeply loved because of his caring and genuine attitude towards others.
John was preceded in death by his parents, sister Ardis Moorhead and daughter Amy Goodman.
John is survived by sons Joshua Goodman of Marble Falls, Texas, Scott Goodman of Dallas, Texas and Matt Goodman of Dallas, Texas; daughter Sheri Goodman of Lafayette, Colo.; grandchildren Randall and Jeffrey Bennett, Hailey, Isabelle, and Jessie Goodman; brothers Robert Goodman and Eugene Stolze along with many nieces and nephews.
A gathering for family and friends will take place from 9:30 to 11 a.m. on Saturday at Bonnerup Funeral Service, Albert Lea. A graveside service will follow at 11:30 a.m. at Hillcrest Cemetery, Albert Lea. Visit www.ahlbergfuneralchapel.com to share condolences.
