Josiah’s Gift brings the Bible to life

ROCHESTER — Andrew Voigt wants to tell you a story.
Not just any story. The Spring Valley native wants you to hear a passage from the best-selling book in history.
“People can understand the Bible if they simply listen to it,” Voigt said. That has led him to into a ministry of spoken scripture.
Voigt and his colleague Mark Beck from Josiah’s Gift will be reciting a series of passages from the book of Acts on Saturday when they appear at the 30th annual kickoff of Youth for Christ Bible Quizzing at Emmanuel Baptist Church in Rochester.
But Voigt offers assurances that scripture will be recited with inflection and intentionality, not the monotone readings sometimes heard at Sunday-morning church services.
“It will appear like storytellers telling a story, not a dramatic performance,” Voigt said.
Beck, who met Voigt when they were students at Northwestern College in St. Paul, agreed: “We’re bringing it to life with the energy and passion of the one who wrote it.”
