MINNEAPOLIS — A Minneapolis man has been convicted of posing as a personal care attendant to have sex with a vulnerable adult.
A Hennepin County jury convicted 43-year-old Corey Gordon on Thursday on one count of third-degree criminal sexual conduct.
Jurors deliberated for two-and-a-half days before convicting Gordon. Prosecutors will seek a life sentence when Gordon is sentenced Sept. 25.
Hennepin County Attorney Mike Freeman called Gordon “the worst kind of predator.” Freeman said Gordon sought out a woman with “the reasoning and emotional abilities of a fourth-grader,” and then posed as her personal care attendant to have sex with her.
According to the complaint, Gordon approached the victim at the Mall of America and took her to a coffee shop in October 2012.
Defense attorneys argued the couple was in love.
