HOPKINS — Police said a 51-year-old man has died in an industrial accident at a Minneapolis-area Supervalu grocery warehouse.
The Hopkins Police Department said the man was pinned under a piece of equipment and severely injured Sunday at the Supervalu Food Distribution Center in Hopkins. Responders pronounced him dead at the scene.
The man’s wife and a teamsters union identified him as Perry Goffard. His wife said that he had worked for the company for more than 15 years.
A Supervalu representative said the company is working with authorities to investigate, and speculation regarding the cause of the incident is premature. The retailer is based in Eden Prairie.
