Ascension Lutheran Church Women of ELCA

The Ascension Lutheran Church Women of ELCA had their annual meeting at 6 p.m. Sept. 9.

The Rev. Mark Boorsma opened with devotions and led the Bible study from the September Gather.

Co-president Doris Guenther opened the business meeting.

A thank you was read from AJ Krowiorz for the graduation quilt.

A special thank you to Jane Pearson for all her work in preparations for the Ascension Salad Women’s Guest Night.

Guenther read the letter from St. John’s Auxiliary regarding their benefit luncheon today from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. They also asked for two Sunday coffee serving times and two Sundays to help with the escort service to chapel. Tammy Kowiorz volunteered to set up the escort service times.

The nominating committee presented the following for slate of WELCA officers for 2015: co-presidents Denise Sandager and Lola Evans, secretary Jan Jerdee, treasurer Cheryl Venem, mission in growth Joan Anderson, co-mission in action Ruth Furland and Alice Jensen, mission in community Lynn Hestness and prayer coordinator Elaine Struck.

A motion was made and seconded to accept the slate of officers for 2015.

A reminder to remember Ella Nelson with cards as she turned 90 Friday. Her address is at Thorne Crest Retirement Community, Room 222.

There will be the thank offering in November.

Tammy Krowiorz explained about the youth food shelf project.

Miriam circle served.
