Peterson predicts to score on 1st run

EDEN PRAIRIE — Adrian Peterson took his first carry last season all the way for a 78-yard touchdown.
He called it ahead of time, too.
This year, Peterson has again predicted a score on his first run, though that came Thursday only through prompting from a reporter.
More important than the net gain from the first time he touches the ball, of course, is the production Peterson can give the Minnesota Vikings over the course of 16 or more games.
They’re trying to preserve his health with more carries outside of the tackles while realizing he’s still the best asset they have. Handing him the ball has been their most reliable formula for success since he was drafted in 2007.
