Roger Wilds, 1944-2014

Funeral services for Roger Edward Wilds will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home. The Rev. Leon Lundstrom will officiate. Interment will be in Bohemian National Cemetery in Myrtle. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at Bayview. Online condolences are welcome at www.bayviewfuneral.com.

Roger died Sunday, Sept. 28, 2014, at Abbott Northwestern Hospital.

Roger Edward Wilds was born Feb. 16, 1944, in Albert Lea to Hershel and Marian (Gustin) Wilds. He attended Albert Lea High School and graduated in 1963.

On Aug. 27, 1965, Roger was married to Marlene Webb in Albert Lea. Marlene and Roger had one daughter, Carolyn (Wilds) Monson. Carolyn and her husband, Dale Monson, have two children, Mitchel and Jennifer. Roger and his wife lived in Glenville until 1990 and lived in Lakeville until his death.

Roger was co-owner with his wife, Marlene, of Northland Upholstery for 20 years.

He also worked many other jobs: Northwest Rubber, Banquet Foods, Dave Severson Ford, Mrs. Gerry’s Kitchen, Hardee’s and Walmart. He enjoyed talking and socializing, vegetable gardening, sports, word searches, playing games, spending time with his family and spoiling his grandchildren.

Roger is survived by his wife, Marlene; daughter, Carolyn (Dale) Monson; grandchildren Mitchel and Jennifer Monson, all of Plymouth. He is also survived by brothers Gary Wilds from Lake Mills and Terry (Rhoda) Wilds of Kalamazoo, Mich.; nephews William Cho and Kevin Wilds from Faribault, Justin Wilds from Lake Mills, James Wilds of Kalamazoo and Nick Wilds of Champlain; and a niece, Sarah (Ramon) Harbin, of Kalamazoo.

He was preceded in death by his parents Hershel and Marion (Gustin) Wilds and by two brothers, Eugene and Ronnie Wilds.
