There will be a benefit for Pierce Hable starting at 10 a.m. and going to midnight Saturday at the Eagles Club, 205 W. William St. in Albert Lea.
Hable is 16 months-old and has been diagnosed with a kaposiform hemangioendothelioma tumor on his right side. KHE is a rare vascular tumor that usually affects soft tissues. It is benign and locally aggressive because of its tendency to infiltrate surrounding tissues.
Along with KHE, Hable has a severe comsumptive coagulopathy caused by a platelet trapping syndrome called Kasabach Merritt.
He’s presently being treated with steroids and chemotherapy. He and his parents have traveled to Rochester on a weekly basis. Hable’s gone through several surgeries and has been hospitalized for 16 days for a staph infection.
Hable’s parents are Chris and Sanya Hable of Albert Lea. They’ve accrued several expenses and all proceeds of Saturday’s benefit will go to help with medical and travel expenses.
Activities Saturday include a bean bag tournament, bake sale, barbecues, auctions and 3Lane will perform.
Monetary donations can be made to the Pierce Hable Benefit at Wells Federal Bank, 2630 Bridge Ave. in Albert Lea.
