DULUTH — Vice President Joe Biden is praising a northern Minnesota group for its globally-recognized model for responding to domestic violence.
Biden stopped in Duluth on Thursday to highlight the Duluth Model. The Domestic Abuse Intervention Programs created the Duluth Model, which focuses on the experience of the victim and changing the community as a whole.
Biden told people who have worked on the Duluth Model that they “have awakened the world.” He said he has seen the Duluth Model’s visual wheel for intervening in domestic abuse cases on visits to other countries.
Biden also called on men to intervene to stop domestic violence.
The Duluth Model was named the world’s best policy last week by the World Future Council, the Inter-Parliamentary Union and UN Women.
