Dorothy Swedberg, 1925-2014

Dorothy Jane (Scott) Swedberg, 89, of Sequim, Wash., passed away from heart failure Saturday, Sept. 27, 2014. She was born to Byron and Esther (Toenges) Scott on April 24, 1925 in Freeborn County. She was baptized and confirmed at Methodist Episcopal Church in rural Albert Lea. She attended District 57 country school in rural Albert Lea and graduated from Albert Lea Central High School in 1943.

She was married to Donald Swedberg, who preceded her in death. She was previously married to Robert Fink of Port Angeles, Wash., and the Conger area.

Dorothy was a telephone operator in Albert Lea, Port Angeles and California. She was an airport aide in Seattle. The highlight in her life was when her family gathered together. She was very special and will be missed by all who knew her.

She leaves behind her sons Steve (Char) Fink of Port Angeles, Chuck (Karen) Fink of Sequim, Wash., and Scott (Sue) Fink of Poulsbo, Wash.; daughter, Debra (Leo) Hagar, of Port Angeles; nieces Judy Bronson, Carol Lynn Purdy, Cindy Shallit, Nancy Morgan, and Anne Blouin; nephew, Brian Scott; sister, Phyllis Scherb; and sister-in-law, Dorothy Scott. She is also survived by seven grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Also surviving are great-nieces and nephews and great-great-nieces and nephews and cousins.

In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by her brother, Lawrence Scott; sister, Lorriane Meinke; brothers-in-law Julius Scherb and Paul Meinke; nephew, Gregory Scherb; baby girl Scott; and great-nephew, Tim Simpson.

A service officiated by the Rev. Bill Asselin is planned for 11 a.m. Saturday at Drennan Ford Funeral Chapel. She will be buried at Mount Angeles Memorial Park.
