Kudos to the committee and supporters throughout the community that brought back a lively Homecoming Week to Albert Lea.
Tammy Krowiorz of the Albert Lea High School football boosters summed it up well: “It’s been too long since we had the huge community involvement we had years ago.”
There are Tiger paws posted on large paper signs all over. A pep rally was held Tuesday. The coronation of the Homecoming Court took place Monday. A boat float is slated for Thursday at the Albert Lea High School pool.
It’s great seeing so many Homecoming Week activities.
But most of all, we urge people in the Albert Lea community to get off work a little early on Thursday and go see the Homecoming Parade. It starts at 4 p.m. at the North Broadway parking lot and goes for just three blocks.
If you didn’t go to the coronation or the pep rally and don’t plan on going to the football game or boat float, at least attend the parade. It is the aspect of Homecoming Week squarely intended for the community at large, for everybody whether they are sports fans or not.
Let’s show our school spirit. Let’s show the football team, the cheerleaders, the Homecoming royalty and all the students just how much Albert Lea appreciates Albert Lea High School. Get to the parade Thursday. Show them that you are a true red, white and blue supporter.
