Elsie Fjone, 1923-2014

Elsie “Marjorie” Fjone, 91, of Kiester died Thursday, Oct. 2, 2014, at St. Luke’s Lutheran Care Center in Blue Earth. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Kiester. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at Bruss-Heitner Funeral Home in Bricelyn. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service on Saturday. The Rev. Katie Pals will officiate and interment will be in Our Savior’s Lutheran Cemetery in Kiester. Marj was born June 24, 1923, the daughter of Olaf and Andrine (Hauge) Sime in Winnebago County, Iowa. She was married to Gayle Leroy Fjone on Dec. 31, 1944, in Kiester. She was a graduate of Kiester High School, the class of 1941. She was an active lifetime member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, WELCA and quilting with the church ladies. She had worked as a teller at First National Bank in Kiester, bookkeeper at Sime Equipment and also for the Kiester Creamery. She enjoyed visiting with her family and friends and playing bridge with several clubs. She also enjoyed traveling.
Marj is survived by her children Loren (Claudia) Fjone of Chesterfield, Mo., Sharon (Mike) Henry of Tucson, Ariz., and Eileen (Roger) Johnson of Bricelyn; grandchildren Heather and her son, Oliver, Eric (Michelle) Fjone and their children Caleb, Taylor, Mia and Eric John “EJ,” Ann Hickox (Kevin Jiang), Paulette (Andy) Butterfield, Tammi Roalstad and Jerrod (Theresa) Roalstad and their children Tristen and Damien; 13 step-grandchildren; 21 step-great-grandchildren; nine step-great-great-grandchildren; and a sister-in-law, Erlis Sime.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Gayl,e in 1991; and brothers and sisters John (in infancy), Norma Fure, Almo Flo, Olive Wogen, Milton, Sylvan, Wayne and Clifford Sime.
