Memorial services for Vonnie Oftedahl will be at 11 a.m. Friday at First Lutheran Church in Albert Lea. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Bonnerup Funeral Service in Albert Lea and again one hour prior to the service at church. The Rev. John Holt will be officiating. Interment will be in Graceland Cemetery in Albert Lea.
LaVonne H. “Vonnie” Oftedahl passed away peacefully at her home Saturday, Oct. 11, 2014. She was 89.
Vonnie was born in Albert Lea July 16, 1925, to Clara and J. Henry Hovland. She was a lifelong resident of Albert Lea, graduating from Albert Lea High School in 1942. She married Paul Oftedahl Sr. on Aug. 4, 1946.
Vonnie was employed many years as a clerk at Albert Lea Public Library and at Four Seasons. Vonnie was a very active member at First Lutheran Church. She volunteered at the hospital and was an active member of the Hospital Auxiliary and American Legion Auxiliary. In her free time Vonnie enjoyed reading books, doing crossword puzzles and spending time with her family.
She is survived by her son, Stefan (Jaymee) Oftedahl, and their daughter, Brianna, of Albert Lea and son, Paul Jr. (Kathy) Oftedahl, and their children Kalea and Kyan of Decorah, Iowa; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Duane and Carla Oftedahl of Sun City, Ariz., and Ralph and Helen Hoeper of Austin; as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Paul Oftedahl Sr.; parents Clara and J. Henry Hovland; parents-in-law Ben and Bertha Oftedahl; and sister-in-law, Karen Shreiner.
