Myrtle Berge, 1925-2014

Myrtle Gertrude Berge, 89, of Osage, Iowa, died Thursday, Oct. 16, 2014, at Osage Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in Osage.
Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday at Rock Creek Lutheran Church, 3269 Foothill Avenue in Osage, with the Rev. David A. Werges and Diaconal Minister Elayne J. Werges officiating. Burial will be in Rock Creek Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today at Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home in Osage.
Myrtle was born April 5, 1925, in Freeborn County to Helmer and Lena (Leegard) Anderson. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith.
On March 20, 1954, she married Oscar Berge at First Lutheran Church in Albert Lea. They lived on and farmed the family farm near Meroa, Iowa, until their retirement in 1989, at which time they moved to Osage. Myrtle was a member of Rock Creek Lutheran Church where she was a member of the Eunice Circle. Myrtle was a wonderful cook. She enjoyed cooking for family, friends and the crews that would come to work on the farm. Myrtle also enjoyed music and going to dances.
Myrtle is survived by her sisters Carol (Erling) Brudvig of Lake Mills and Mavis (Marvin) Klouse of Austin; sister-in-law, Nina Anderson, of Ellendale; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Oscar Berge, in 2008; brother, Harlan Anderson; sisters Lillian Pixley and her husband, John, and Laurene Groe and her husband, Duane; brother-in-law, Pervin Berge, and his wife, Louise; sister-in-law, Stella Martin, and her husband, Everett; and many nieces and nephews.
