KIMBALL — The Minnesota State Patrol said a passer-by has saved a driver involved in a fiery crash that killed a St. Cloud woman.
The patrol said a 37-year-old female driver died in the crash Thursday near Kimball. Authorities said a minivan was trying to pass on a highway when it crashed head-on with the woman’s car.
The minivan rolled before catching fire. Authorities said 28-year-old David Baxley of South Haven was driving by and stopped to pull a 22-year-old man from Fort Atkinson, Wis., out of the burning vehicle.
Baxley is a sergeant in the Minnesota National Guard. He said the cab of the van was engulfed in flame by the time he dragged the man away. Authorities said the man was hospitalized with serious injuries.
No arrests were reported.
