The first day of the section playoffs was tumultuous for football teams from the Tribune’s coverage area.

Four of the five teams from Minnesota — Albert Lea, Glenville-Emmons, Alden-Conger and NRHEG — had their seasons ended.

United South Central advanced Tuesday to the Section 3A semifinals with a 14-13 win over Murray County Central.

The No. 5-seed Rebels (3-6 overall) will play at No. 1-seed Minneota (8-0 overall) at 3 p.m. Saturday. Minneota had a first-round bye.
