Viola and Jimmy farmed near Mansfield. Jimmy died in October 1952. Viola and son, Marvin, lived in Kiester for a short time and moved to Albert Lea in August of 1959.

She had worked at the hospital in housekeeping for 14 years before retiring in 1985.

Viola was an awesome cook and baker and made everything from scratch. She also enjoyed knitting and needlepoint. She was especially proud of her garden and her beautiful flowers.

She will be greatly missed by her son, Marvin, of Albert Lea; special friends and neighbors Susie and Brian Paul and family; niece, Lois, and her husband, Les Anderson, of Albert Lea; nephew, Larry Katzung, and his wife, Hildy, of Texas; and great-nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, James; her son, Robert, in infancy; and sisters Maleta Katzung and Frieda Johnson.

The family expresses heartfelt appreciation to Harlan Bang, Morning Star and the home health nurses.
