Which way does Bennett want?

I read Peggy Bennett’s My Point of View column of Sept. 2 with interest.
At one point in the article she wrote: “I desire to be and will be a representative who will fully inform the public of the cost and benefits of anything we engage in.”
Yet earlier in that same article, she criticizes Minnesota House Rep. Shannon Savick for her vote on a bill that taxes Internet purchases.
My understanding is that the bill was passed to support our local businesses. The thinking is that if Amazon and other Internet sites can dodge state taxes that we pay when we shop at our local stores, they have an unfair and costly advantage over our local businesses. So the Legislature closed this unfair loophole and voted to support our local businesses and the people who work in them.
So now I’m confused. Where is Ms. Bennett’s “cost and benefits” analysis? Did she not analyze this bill before attacking it? Or does she simply prefer to support out of state large entities over our local businesses?
As for me, I thank Rep. Shannon Savick for her vote to support local businesses.
