ST. PAUL — The faces of a new power alignment at the Minnesota Capitol are meeting for lunch.
Democratic Gov. Mark Dayton is hosting House Speaker-designate Kurt Daudt at the governor’s mansion today. It’s their first face-to-face meeting since Republicans won control of the Minnesota House in this month’s election.
It breaks up what had been a two-year run of Democratic power.
Dayton had similar meetings this week with Democratic Senate Majority Leader Tom Bakk and current House Speaker Paul Thissen, who drops down to minority leader when the session opens in January.
