DeLoris LuDell Low, 86, of Northwood died Sunday, Dec. 7, 2014, at Lutheran Retirement Home in Northwood.

A funeral service for DeLoris will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at United Methodist Church, 1000 First Ave. N. in Northwood, with the Rev. Shirley Hoffmann Will officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Rest Cemetery in Northwood. Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Wednesday at Conner Colonial Chapel, 1008 First Ave. S. in Northwood. Visitation will also be one hour prior to service time Thursday at the church.

DeLoris LuDell (Flatness) Low was born April 2, 1928, in Mason City, the daughter of Henry and Alpha (Aamodt) Flatness. She attended Mason City Community Schools, graduating from Mason City High School in 1946. DeLoris was baptized and reaffirmed the faith of her baptism through confirmation at Trinity Lutheran Church in Mason City.

She was united in marriage to Allen George “Sonny” Low Nov. 28, 1948, and to this marriage three sons were born, Dan, Keith and Timothy. They would have celebrated their 66th year of marriage this last fall.

DeLoris worked at Northwood Telephone Co., Harv and Dick Grocery Store, Fallgatter’s Grocery Store, sold Avon for many years and was the secretary for Low Auction Service. DeLoris enjoyed being a farm wife, her Sunday rides with Danny and all vacation trips with Allen.

Her hobbies were playing bingo, having card parties, baking, fishing, needlepoint, bird watching and auctions.

She was a member of Northwood United Methodist Church.

Those left to cherish her memory are her two sons, Dan Low of Northwood and Keith (June) Low of Northwood; her grandchildren Chris Low of Northwood, Mandi (Mark) Christopher of Clear Lake and Dae (Kevin) Haskins of Washington, Iowa; her great-grandchildren Porscha, Cody and Rypleigh, McClanahan, Chance Haskins and Hailey Haskins, all of Washington, Iowa, Zaden Brooking-Low of Northwood and MaKaylee Christopher of Clear Lake; her brother, Ronnie (Ragna) Flatness, of Mason City; her brother-in-law, Richard (Marge) Low, of Northwood; her sisters-in-law Bernice “Sis” Estes and Pat Low, both of Northwood; and many nieces, nephews and other extended family members and friends.

DeLoris was preceded in death by her parents Henry and Alpha Flatness; her son, Timothy, who died in infancy; husband, Allen, who died July 25, 2009; brothers and sisters-in-law Clarence “Babe” and Luella Low, Vale and Bernice Low, Lyle “Bub” Low, Harold and Eleanor Low, Russell and Dorothy Low, Lucille “Cile” and George Mathews, Arlene “Snooky” and Carl Grosland, Pearl and Leif Weston, Carroll “Micky” and Frances Low, and Drexell Estes.
