MINNEAPOLIS — Minnesota All-America tight end Maxx Williams is turning pro.
The school announced Friday that Williams would skip his last two years of eligibility to enter the NFL draft.
His announcement came one day after the Gophers’ season ended with a disappointing loss in the Citrus Bowl to Missouri, though Williams had a personal highlight with a jaw-dropping catch-and-run for a touchdown during which he hurdled two tacklers.
Williams led the Gophers this season with 36 catches and eight touchdowns.
