CLARKS GROVE — Three fire departments battled a fire that badly damaged a trailer in Clarks Grove Friday afternoon.
No one was injured.
The blaze, at 323 N. Hillcrest Circle, was reported at 11:44 a.m. by a neighbor, according to Freeborn County Sheriff Kurt Freitag.
Freitag said nobody was home at the time of the fire, and he estimated the trailer to be a total loss.
The trailer was being rented by Laura Halverson, 28, and Matthew Springsteel, 31. There was also a dog that lived at the house that was not home when the fire began.
The State Fire Marshal’s Office and a Freeborn County Sheriff’s Office detective were investigating at the scene Friday afternoon.
Freitag said it appeared the fire began underneath a bedroom floor, but how the fire started remains under investigation.
Freitag said fire departments from Clarks Grove, Geneva and Hollandale responded, along with the Albert Lea Salvation Army.
Temperatures were only a few degrees above zero.
