ABERDEEN, S.D. — Winona State University men’s basketball coach Mike Leaf was determined to see his Warriors do an about-face after the holiday break.

Northern State had other ideas.

The Wolves took a 10-point halftime lead, then cruised past the struggling Warriors 74-51 Friday night in an NSIC contest played before a crowd listed at 3,904 at Wachs Arena.

Northern State moved to 11-2, 5-2 in league play, while Winona State – which has lost three straight and five of their last six – fell to 5-6, 2-5 in the NSIC.

The Warriors have little time to rest as they face red-hot Minnesota State-Moorhead (15-1, 6-1) at 6 p.m. today. Minnesota State-Moorhead rolled over Upper Iowa 106-81 Friday night, pushing its home record to 7-0.

Winona State continues to struggle with its shooting, as it hit just 35.8 percent of its field-goal attempts overall.
