Alice Ernest, 1922-2015

Alice Christine Ernest, 92, passed away Saturday, Feb. 7, 2015, in Rockville, Maryland, following a brief illness. She was born Dec. 3, 1922, to Eugene and Ethel Rochelle in East St. Louis, Illinois. She graduated high school from St. Teresa Academy.
Alice’s father recruited her to help run his grocery due to the shortage of manpower during World War II, and she continued there for 11 years.
Alice married her husband, Edward, Aug. 16, 1955, in Seattle. They lived in Seattle, then East St. Louis before moving to Albert Lea in 1966 to make their home and raise their children.
Alice loved Christ Episcopal Church where she served many roles, including director of the altar guild. She loved visiting with family and friends, cats and dogs, knitting, walking and reading.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Edward, and is survived by their children Mark (Josefa) of Eagan and Christine Baron (Scott) of Rockville.
Service and interment in Albert Lea will occur at a future date. Memorial contributions may be made directly to the Humane Society of Freeborn County.
