JOHNSTOWN, N.D. — The nonprofit Farm Rescue is accepting applications from farmers who need help with spring planting.
The North Dakota-based group assists family farmers in the Dakotas, Minnesota, Iowa and eastern Montana.
Farm Rescue sets up camp on the farms of injured or ill farmers, doing their planting or harvesting work rather than handing out money. The group also assists farmers who have been victims of natural disasters.
Volunteers help the farmers plant and harvest up to 1,000 acres of crops free of charge.
The nonprofit was started in 2006 and it has helped hundreds of families.
The organization said priority will be given to applications received by March 31.
