St. John’s Auxiliary
St. John’s Auxiliary met at 10:30 a.m. Jan. 19 in the St. John’s chapel. President Jan Jerdee welcomed everyone. The group sang “Oh Jesus I Have Promised,” accompanied by Irene Goskeson on the piano.
Auxiliary Treasurer LeAnn Knutson gave the treasurer’s report.
Volunteer Coordinator Carla Reichel reported 936 volunteer hours for December 2014. Total 2014 volunteer hours were 11,194. Activities Director Shirley Leeman announced activities for February: Ladder Ball on Monday; L.A. Sasse Music on Tuesday; wear red Friday for women’s heart health and Jonny Bird at 10:30 a.m.; singing valentines Feb. 13; Valentine’s Day Feb. 14 with music by Dunnell; President’s Day is Feb. 16; Wartburg College choir will perform at 2 p.m. Feb. 21; and Kent Larsen will provide music Feb. 27.
Vice President Les Harmon read the names of residents celebrating January birthdays. The birthday song was sung.
Churches thanked for serving Sunday coffee were Lunder Lutheran and First Lutheran of Albert Lea.
The program was provided by Steve Klingbeil of Wells, the music director at Assembly of God Church. He is a musician, songwriter and for 28 years has been a hydro-tomato grower. He sang and played on the keyboard “This is My Father’s House,” “On the Day You Were Born,” “Smile, Smile, Smile,” “You Raise Me Up” and others.
The meeting was closed with the Lord’s Prayer.
Conger 4-H
The Conger 4-H Club met Jan. 11 at Conger Community Center. Membership dues need to be paid for the current year.
The club discussed their community pride project and hope to make improvements in and around the Community Center.
Meeting notices will now be emailed to families instead of sending postcards. The notices will be sent about a week before the meeting and will include information about the agenda.
Beef weigh-in will be Feb. 7. Livestock quality and ethics training will be March 21 in Mower County. Make sure to sign up early for this training if you need it.
The club will do the concession stand at the Minnesota Spring Barrow show Friday. Members should consider working or donating to the event. Contact the club’s key leaders if you have questions.
The next meeting will be at 5 p.m. Sunday and the club plans to go ice skating at the City Arena after the meeting.
