Albert Lea’s returning state qualifiers picked up where they left off in the Tigers’ season opener.
Brady Loch and Alex Syverson led the Albert Lea boys’ golf team to a 312-367 win Tuesday over Mankato West at Green Lea Golf Course.
According to Tigers’ coach Casey McIntyre, par for the course is 72, and Loch, a senior, shot a 74 to take medalist honors.
Syverson, a junior, finished one stroke behind Loch.
Also playing vital roles for the team total were sophomore Sam Chalmers and senior Dalton Flatness. Chalmers completed the course in 80 strokes, and Flatness rounded out the scoring with an 83.
Next, Albert Lea will compete against Rochester John Marshall at 2:30 p.m. Thursday at Northern Hills Golf Course. The Big Nine Conference tournament is slated for 10 a.m. May 18 at Faribault Golf & Country Club.
