The Freeborn County Arts Initiative, at 224 S. Broadway in Albert Lea, is looking to showcase  the artwork of immigrants in their new gallery throughout May and June, according to a press release.

The initiative is particularly interested in the work of underrepresented populations in Minnesota. The showcase would feature work in all media from Asian, African, South American, Middle Eastern and other groups that must work very hard to assimilate and are often not embraced or understood by the established ethnic groups.

The submission deadline is April 24, and the exhibition will be open from May 5 to June 27. An artists reception will be from 1 to 4 p.m. May 9.
