County seeking applicants for the watershed board

Applications for the Shell Rock River Watershed District Board of Managers are due on Friday.
This year the Freeborn County Board of Commissioners will appoint two positions.
The positions have been held by Clayton Petersen and Art Ludtke.
Watershed District Administrator Brett Behnke said Ludtke announced this week he will not be reapplying. He was unsure about Petersen’s intent.
County commissioners may conduct an interview process of the applicants and then make the appointments at a future board meeting, with the terms to begin at the district’s July meeting.
Behnke said people who are interested in the watershed district, who are involved in the community and who want to make a difference are encouraged to apply.
“What we’re really looking for are those people who really care about our lakes,” Behnke said.
Applicants must reside within the boundary of the watershed district. Applications can be submitted to the county or watershed office.
