Dead cattle reported
The Freeborn County Sheriff’s Office received a report at 2:58 p.m. Saturday of about 15 dead calves on property north of 83596 320th St. The Sheriff’s Office contacted the Department of Agriculture, which will look into the case further.
Burning ban in effect
Freeborn County Sheriff Kurt Freitag issued a burning ban starting at 7 a.m. today until further notice.
Freitag said though Freeborn County has had rain recently, dry air and high winds were forecasted to move into the area this morning, which raises the risk for out-of-control fires.
The ban may be lifted at 7 a.m. Wednesday, but the Sheriff’s Office will continue to monitor humidity levels, temperatures and wind speed before the decision is made.
Vehicles egged, damaged
A vehicle was reported egged while in Glenville overnight Friday. The incident was reported to the Freeborn County Sheriff’s Office Saturday morning.
A vehicle was reported damaged at 12:18 p.m. Friday at 2708 Bridge Ave.
Mail, mailbox stolen
Mail was reported stolen at 8:39 p.m. Friday from 1609 Bridge Ave.
A mailbox was reported stolen at 10:23 a.m. Saturday at 1021 W. Front St.
Gun, cash taken from residence
A burglary was reported at 2:17 a.m. today at 515 Commercial St. A gun and $1,200 cash were reported missing.
