MINNEAPOLIS — Three more Minnesota high schools are without dance team coaches following a public protest at a state competition.
Apple Valley and Chaska school officials have reprimanded their head dance coaches and suspended them for two contests. Dance coaches in Eden Prairie have resigned their positions. Coaches at Wayzata and Lakeville South were reprimanded earlier.
The five high schools publicly snubbed Faribault’s championship routine in February over questions of originality. The Minnesota State High School League has cleared Faribault of allegations that the dance team stole their routine from a Utah squad.
When Faribault won the high-kick championship at the Target Center in Minneapolis, the five opposing teams refused to participate in the awards ceremony.
