Kenneth Ohnstad, 1955-2015

A memorial service for Kenneth “Ken” D. Ohnstad will be at 11 a.m. Friday at First Lutheran Church in Ellendale. The Rev. Richard Sliper will officiate. Bonnerup Funeral Service is assisting the family.
Ken passed away in Presido, Texas, Saturday, April 4, 2015. He was 59.
Kenneth Duane Ohnstad was born Nov. 9, 1955, to Nocolai Ohnstad Jr. and MaryAnn (Dusek) in Owatonna. Ken was raised in Albert Lea where he graduated high school in 1974. He was baptized and confirmed at First Lutheran Church in Ellendale. After high school Ken worked various jobs at Land O’ Lakes, Wedge Nursery and was on overall handyman, doing various painting and yard-working jobs.
Ken always wanted to be a cowboy. He liked riding his horse and watching old western movies. He spent time with his friends and family around the bonfire. Ken was also very crafty, making pull-behind wagons and even making a chair out of sticks and branches.
He is preceded in death by his father, Nicolai; and both sets of grandparents.
Ken is survived by his mother, MaryAnn, of Arizona; siblings Howard (Elsa) Ohnstad of Washington, Robyn (Ron) Gansen of Albert Lea, Michael (Marilil) Ohnstad of California, Kelly (Rick) Ferrie of Albert Lea, Kevin (Lisa) Ohnstad of Albert Lea, Tracy (Claudia) Ohnstad of Colorado and Cheri Ohnstad of Arizona; as well as many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
