American Legion Auxiliary
The American Legion Auxiliary met at 7 p.m. April 1 in the post dining room. Usual opening ceremonies were held.
The group had a memorial service for 13 of their members. The members were Harriet Bartell, Priscilla Bergstrom, LaVonne Bonnerup, Izola Hareid, Jane Hebert, Eliz Kaplan, Vonnie Oftedahl, Vivian Sorenson, Ruth Schreiber, Betty Victoria, Evelyn Wakefield, Jeanette Olson and Marietta Jones.
Delegates were elected for district and department conventions. The district convention is on May 16 in Waseca and the department convention is July 16 through July 18 at Jackpot Casino in Redwood Falls.
Recommendations voted on were donations to the District President’s Projects, Commander’s Project, Historical Museum and Legionville.
Committee reports were given by Karen Cibert, children and youth; Betty Anderson, national security; and Bonnie Schneider, membership.
Correspondence was read. The group received thank yous from the Albert Lea Hog Chapter for a donation; Halverson Elementary School staff for apples given during National Education Week; Ecumenical Food Pantry for a donation; St. Cloud Veteran’s Administration for a donation; C. Winther for the coupons that the group sent to the troops overseas — they were very much appreciated; and from the family of Vonnie Oftedahl.
The group then sang one verse of “God Bless America” before concluding the meeting with the usual closing ceremonies.
