The United Way of Freeborn County recently announced its Rocking the Block grant funding and volunteer opportunities.
The Rocking the Block collaboration has received a huge show of support from the Wells Fargo Housing Foundation in the form of a $15,500 grant. The grant funding will be used to rehab a home in the community, and change the lives of a deserving senior couple. Wells Fargo Housing Foundation will also be investing 60 hours volunteer labor throughout the project.
The inspiration for Rocking the Block came from Jon Ford, director of the local Housing and Redevelopment office. He was seeing many residents whose homes were in need of repair, but they did not qualify for government programs.
The Rocking the Block initiative is a collaboration between AZ-One’s Shinefest Ministry, the Housing and Redevelopment Authority, the United Way of Freeborn County and Habitat for Humanity.
The United Way is now accepting applications as well as volunteers. For more information, call 507-373-8670.
