WCDA awards $820K in spring grant round

County Historical Society, others receive funding
NORTHWOOD — The Worth County Development Authority last week awarded about $820,000 in grants during its semi-annual banquet at Diamond Jo Casino.
The WCDA is the nonprofit co-licensee for Diamond Jo and each year receives 5.76 percent of the casino’s annual gross revenue.
Off the top of that amount, 7 percent of the nonprofit’s funds goes to Worth County.
Then, 47.5 percent goes to education, and 47.5 percent goes toward other projects.
Grants are given out twice a year, and educational awards are given out annually.
The highest amount given out in this grant round was for $162,383 to the city of Manly for upgrades to Bosworth Park.
