MINNEAPOLIS — Minneapolis police are investigating the response by officers to a downtown demonstration over a police shooting in Madison, Wisconsin.
The group Black Lives Matter Minneapolis claims a 10-year-old boy was among those police sprayed with a chemical irritant during a march Wednesday night.
Minneapolis Police Chief Janee Harteau said the group’s concerns will be investigated. Harteau also said she spoke to the boy’s mother to see how he was doing.
According to a press release, police released an incident report saying a “chemical aerosol” was used to drive back the crowd.
The demonstration follows a decision by the Dane County, Wisconsin, district attorney not to charge a white officer in the death of an unarmed, biracial 19-year-old man in March.
