County Fair Queen Contest seeks entries

Prize money awaits the crowning of the Worth County Fair Queen, Fair Princess and Miss Congeniality for 2015. The queen will receive a check for $100, picture plaque portrait and bouquet of flowers. The princess (runner-up) will receive a cash award of $75, sash and tiara. Miss Congeniality, who will be selected by her fellow contestants, will receive a monetary gift of $50 and a sash.
This year’s queen will be featured in area parades and will represent Worth County at the Iowa State Fair in August. Candidates must be age 16 to 21 by Aug. 13, corresponding with the first day of the Iowa State Fair.
Candidates must reside in Worth County or an adjoining county if the majority of activities are in Worth County. Applications, complete rules, as well as the contestant schedule are available at the Worth County Extension Office at 808 Central Ave. in Northwood.

Applications are due to the Extension office by May 29. The queen coronation will be in the Grandstand at 7 p.m. June 17 at the Worth County Fair in Northwood immediately following the grandstand renovation ribbon cutting and just prior to the high energy acappella group “Six Appeal.” The night will conclude with the drawing for one lucky winner taking home a new John Deere riding lawn mower. Winner of the drawing must be present to win.
