Harriet Hoffman, 1924-2015

Harriet Hoffman, 91, of Austin died Thursday, May 7, 2015, at Cottagewood Senior Community in Rochester.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Olaf Lutheran Church with Todd Portinga, associate in ministry, officiating. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at Clasen-Jordan Mortuary and one hour before the service at the church. Inurnment will be at 3:30 p.m. Thursday at Oakwood Cemetery. The family prefers memorials.
Theodora Harriet Small was born March 13, 1924, in Lyle, the daughter of John Edwin and Sadie Marie (Lastine) Small. Harriet graduated from the Rose Creek High School and began working for the Geo. A. Hormel, Co. On June 8, 1946, she married Wilford “Bud” Hoffman at St. Olaf Lutheran Church in Austin. Harriet was a long-time employee of Hormel Foods Corporation, retiring after some 40 years of service.
Harriet was an active member of St. Olaf Lutheran Church, often working in the church kitchen and at the St. Olaf Diner at the Mower County Fair.
Harriet is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Jean and Kerry Olson of Stewartville; granddaughter, Abby Buck, of Rochester; daughter-in-law, Carolyn Hoffman, of Nisswa; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Wilford “Bud” Hoffman; son, John Hoffman; and brother, Gordon Lastine.
