PACER Center to host workshop

PACER Center is offering “Youth with Challenging Behaviors and the Individualized Education Program: How to plan for graduation and beyond,” a free workshop for parents. It will be from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. May 20 at Brookside Education Center in room 109, 211 W. Richway Drive in Albert Lea. Advance registration is required.
Planning for graduation and beyond is an important step for youth. This interactive workshop is designed for parents of transition-age youth (ages 14 to 21) with mental health, emotional or behavioral needs. Participants will learn strategies to create a youth-driven plan that addresses the areas of education, employment, community involvement, and wellness. Topics include:
Identifying behaviors and what they mean
Understanding mental health and behavior
Learning how to develop an IEP that works
