50 years ago: 1965

• The Albert Lea track and field team defeated Northfield 78-40. Double winners for the Tigers were Tom Boyer in the shot put and the discus and John Fredrickson in the 100-yard dash and the 220.

• Al Lindeman had three hits and two RBIs for the Alden baseball team in its 9-3 win over Glenville. Gayle Johnson was the winning pitcher for the Blackhawks.

• The Albert Lea baseball team defeated Northfield 4-1. Larry Petersen had two hits and an RBI for the Tigers.

25 years ago: 1990

• The Glenville-Emmons softball team defeated Lyle 9-5. Winning pitcher Lani Davis threw a no-hitter and had two hits. Emerlee Steene had three hits in five at-bats for the Wolverines.

• Jamie Beck threw a no-hitter and had 12 strikeouts for the Glenville-Emmons baseball team in its 4-0 victory over Lyle. The Wolverines raised their Gopher Conference record to 6-0.

• The Albert Lea girls’ golf team improved to 7-0 on the season after defeating Northfield 183-205. Scores for the Tigers were medalist Lisa Christopherson, 43; Jodi Mack, 45; Melissa Boom, 47; and Kari Haanstad, 48.

• The Alden-Conger-Freeborn baseball team remained undefeated in the Gopher Conference at 8-0 after defeating Bethlehem Academy 5-3. Mark Wedin had two hits, and Kory Newman pitched the win for Alden-Conger-Freeborn.

10 years ago: 2005

• The Albert Lea boys’ golf team raised its season record to 18-4 with a victory over Fairmont by a score of 317-358. Scores for the Tigers were co-medalists Matt Bennett and Ben Jones, 78; Beau Larson, 79; and Ben Billat, 82.

• Emily Hagen pitched a shutout for the NRHEG softball team in its 8-0 win over Medford. Kayla Reed and Nikki Bergdale led the Panthers with two hits and two RBIs each.

• Sophomore Lindsey Lorenzen pitched a three-hitter for the Glenville-Emmons softball team in its 2-1 win over Lyle/Pacelli. Jordan Claussen had two hits for the Wolverines.
